The rapid growth of kiosk and bancomat-style terminal usage around the world has driven major technological innovation in LCD TFT manufacturing. TFT panels are now required to operate both in and outdoors, resist major temperature changes, be visible in bright sunlight, and continue to function in both wet and temperate conditions. In many cases, too, the TFT panels must be tough enough to resist deliberate attempts at damage in public areas.
